Internet service provider MetaLINK Technologies this month signed on to use a new billing and operational support system application offered by a company named nexogy.

MetaLINK Technologies offers high-speed broadband wireless, web hosting, advanced computer services, fiber, co-location, IP PBX sales and phone service, and remote storage. The company is based in Defiance, Ohio, and it was established in 1996.

nexogy is a VoIP and internet service provider. It Miami-based business, which was founded in 1999, sells those services to small and medium businesses in the U.S.

“We had been looking for a product to help us keep up with the demand for our hosted IP PBX platform,” commented MetaLINK Technologies President and CEO Phil Maag. “nexogy’s SaaS platform with provide us that sales, mediation, and provisioning platform, allowing us to turn sales into revenue producing services faster and further expand our services.

It’s been a busy month for MetaLINK Technologies. According to the announcement,  part of the company’s website, it has experienced several outages lately due to technical difficulties. It appears that severe storms in the area are at least partly to blame for these issues.

The VoIP services market was valued at more than $83 billion in 2015 and is expected to exceed $140 billion in 2021, according to a report released last year by Zion Research.

And in last year’s Worldwide IP PBX Forecast, 2016-2020, Rich Costello, senior research analyst for Unified Communications/Enterprise Communications Infrastructure at IDC commented that: "In many instances, IP telephony (IPT) is still typically one of the main drivers for organizations that are provisioning new communications technologies. But increasingly, IPT is a component in a more strategic approach for deploying unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) solutions — whether on-premises, in the cloud, or via a hybrid approach. In particular, voice and UC cloud-based offerings have impacted and will continue to impact throughout this forecast period growth of premises-based telephony and UC solutions."
