Telnyx, Equinix Get Together to Bring New VoIP Services to Europe, Asia

Telnyx and Equinix, meanwhile, recently paired, and together are poised to bring a new range of next-generation voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services to both Europe and Asia.

The combination should work well just looking at it; Telnyx offers a wholesale VoIP service setup, while Equinix offers a complete worldwide data center operation. The two getting together, therefore, can pose rapid expansions by Telnyx offering the services, and Equinix offering the infrastructure on which to run the services. Good news all around, and it gets even better; the expansion will lead to better network performance—over 60 percent improvement, reports note—and Equinix is getting ready for this expansion by bringing out some new Performance Hub nodes in Equinix London, as well as in the Hong Kong International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers.

In sum, Telnyx and Equinix are putting together a network of five separate nodes connecting the new London and Hong Kong nodes to established nodes in Chicago, the Silicon Valley area, and Washington DC to establish the new network. With the network in place, Equinix's vice president of interconnection solutions Bill Long notes, the overall system will be better able to provide both the quality and scalability that customers desire most.

The new network capability is already providing benefits; average transmission latency has dropped 16 percent, and the level of “jitter” in the network has fallen 62 percent as compared to previous measures. That's giving the company not only better range, but also better service in the process.

Generally, it's good news when a company can not only announce that it's offering its services in more places—that increases the likelihood of profitability by offering a service to more potential customers—but also that the service has improved as a result of the expansion. The improvements in jitter and latency aren't small things; these are the kinds of things that can make or break VoIP operations, and with Equinix and Telnyx so clearly devoted to making operations, it's a safe bet that the customers will be receptive as well. That makes for improved chances of profitability above and beyond the expansion, because the quality hasn't diminished either.

This combination of Equinix and Telnyx should result in some solid sales figures, and give the duo a chance to consider where to expand next. Latin America might well prove a great new target, or even Africa. For right now, though, this duo is clearly getting busy growing.
