VirtualPBX Softphone App Gets New Features to Drive Value

The virtual private branch exchange (PBX) has made quite an impact on operations for many users, and is also providing opportunities for developers to make some advances too. Hosted telecom is particularly benefiting from virtual PBX operations, and some new additions to the VirtualPBX Softphone App should help drive some further interest.

The VirtualPBX Softphone App—essentially the mobile version of the VirtualPBX hosted telephone system—recently added two new features that should prove valuable additions to the lineup. The first of these was a network conditions indicator that remained on at all times, allowing users to tell at a glance if the health of the network might pose a problem in terms of making calls. Additionally, users could tell what needed to be done to address the problems that might crop up. VirtualPBX's chief operations officer (COO) Lon Baker noted that the network strength indicator was great for users that were “...inherently on the go and (who) won't always know they will have a network option that is as reliable as their options at home.”

The second addition is a floating call display, which is particularly helpful for Android users. With it, users can return to a call with a simple, one-tap function. Since most users run several programs concurrently, as Baker points out, a quick means to return to a call can be valuable.

Baker summed up the new VirtualPBX Softphone App material: “Of course with every update we have the first priority is the Softphone App's safe, clean operation of our customers' core service. But this update drives far beyond the critical bolstering of security and operating system compatibility.”

With that last, Baker drives home the point as to why VirtualPBX Softphone is such a desirable tool to have on hand. Naturally the updates include extra value in security and compatibility; these points just go without saying for most apps. A failure to keep up in security and ease of use is an app's death knell. It's not just a matter of security and usability, though, as the routine addition of new features to make an app better overall and improve its value are generally good to have on hand. Admittedly, there's a point at which further development is mostly impossible or so slow as to be nonexistent—you can only add so much before the additions are pointless—but that's a goal to be realized, not something to shy away from.

The VirtualPBX Softphone App keeps improving, and that's good news for its user base. It's also good news for its developers, as a happy user base sticks around and tells others about its high-quality operation. It's hard to go wrong with a situation where everyone wins...except perhaps for the competition.
