As businesses dig deeper into unified communications, many begin to find a need for IP-based systems that can lend flexibility and ease of use to daily practices. One company, VirtualPBX, has now released its latest voice-over-IP (VoIP) platform for businesses, called Dash, to achieve such results.

The software developer said that, when building this new product, it took into account the opinion of its wide range of business customers to give them everything they desired in a communications package. Dash, the result of that effort, brings businesses a cost-effective method of using voice services from basic calling to routing and number management. It seeks to provide users with a step above what VirtualPBX has offered in the past by connecting it to features such as API access and support for a wide range of client hardware.

Lon Baker, the chief operations officer at VirtualPBX, exclaimed nothing but praise for the new product and the process that brought it to light.

“Because of our exhaustive process, our accomplished engineers, and our tireless commitment to excellence, I’m very proud to present Dash as the first of a new class of hosted communications solutions,” Baker said.

Dash begins by offering users an updated user interface. Its design tries to maximize the usage of a user’s screen while also providing quick access to associated tools such as those that handle calls in progress. Multiple user interfaces address the needs of desktop and mobile users by giving them unique looks that take advantage of their capabilities and screen sizes.

Call routing can take the form of ringing multiple phones assigned to a group, or it may ring for a single recipient in charge of a specific project. Any type of hardware will work with the VoIP system, so desk phones and mobile phones become fair game for any routing a user desires. Dash also has direct support for IP phones from prominent vendors such as Yealink, Polycom, and Cisco. In addition, VirtualPBX has agreements with several major carriers in the U.S., so adding new phone numbers will only take a few minutes.

With this release, VirtualPBX is targeting small and midsize businesses. It wants to bring to those businesses the features they expect to see in global enterprises, only at a fraction of what it might cost to otherwise get those results.
