The SMB segment doesn’t have the same resources as large enterprises, and this has led many small companies to be inventive when it comes to integrating solutions to improve their operations. With the advent of hosted and virtual PBX technology, services which were previously only reserved for enterprises can now be obtained by the smallest SMB. This is especially true in the communications sector, as service providers target these businesses by providing them with solutions they can use easily. One of these companies is Oxford Networks, provider of end to end technology solutions, and to improve its UC services for the SMB market, the company announced it has selected BroadSoft.

Oxford chose the BroadCloud managed services to power its Oxford Networks Cloud Branch Exchange (ONcbx), a cloud-based business communications service for SMBs. ONcbx gives small businesses a complete suite of business communications features that allows users to keep in touch with customers, partners, suppliers and employees with video calling and conferencing, mobility, unified messaging, and multiple in-demand hosted UC services.

BroadCloud will give Oxford a comprehensive managed hosted service from its cloud infrastructure providing PBX and UC services as well as full business customer life-cycle with operational processes that include: product management, sales, network assessment, operational support and customer self-service.

“With its powerful UC capabilities and fully operationalized end-to-end business processes, BroadCloud enables service providers like Oxford Networks to create a differentiated service offer that meets the needs of their business customers,” said Ken Rokoff, vice president of BroadCloud at BroadSoft.

When powered with BroadCloud, ONcbx will enhance its capabilities, which will allow it to provide:

  • A UC solution with the flexibility to extend to multiple locations, including mobile users and remote sites without the CAPEX of office telephony systems at each location.
  • Web portals with simplified administrative functions for quick service and lower admin costs.
  • Accessibility to UC services with a single mobile app and easy mobile phone integration.

“A critical differentiator of cloud-based product delivery is that customers receive the latest features without having to pay for costly upgrades to premises-based telephone systems. This is the future of business productivity systems and our customers have access to it today,” said Alan Marblestone, director of product management at Oxford Networks.

The UC market is expected to reach $27 billion by the year 2018, according to IDC. The growth is not only being driven by enterprises, but also SMBs who have come to appreciate many of the benefits this technology provides at affordable price points. With companies such as Oxford Networks and BroadSoft delivering UC solutions geared for SMBs, the days of having to adapt products and services created for other segments are long gone.
