Some recent announcements by virtual PBX provider Nextiva show that the company is truly paving the way for business communications.

First, let us turn to a reason to celebrate. Nextiva, a provider of cloud-based business phone services, was recently named a 2014 Small Business Influencer Top 100 Champion.

The competition used a panel of small business experts to select those honored, such as by seeing how a company can revolutionize processes for other small businesses, how it provides products or services to address challenges faced by small business customers, and how it impacts the growth of other small businesses, according to a company statement. Nextiva was honored because of how it helps small businesses improve employee productivity, reduce complexity, improve opportunities for collaboration and improve customer experiences.

Continuing with its commitment to providing the best service possible to users, Nextiva also recently announced upcoming enhancements to the NextOS system, which includes Nextiva Office and Call Center solutions. The new features will make businesses even more efficient and productive.

When it comes to Nextiva Office, the customer experience will see improvements with new features such as the Auto Attendant, which offers the option for Holiday Hours on the menu. After completing any announcements played on Auto Attendant, it will automatically take callers back to the main menu. In addition, businesses can store media files in a repository. And some of the other improvements include that while using Meet-Me Conferencing, you can see who is talking during the conference; receptionist consoles will display calendar information for all users in real-time; and dashboard users will see their colleagues’ presence/availability status and can instant message them on the spot.

With the updated Nextiva Call Center, agent efficiency and customer experience will be improved through agent skill-based routing, which will send calls to only agents/groups of agents assigned to a certain business skill, such as advanced technical service, claims processing or administrator skills. Agents and supervisors will see visual cues when agents are not operating within desired limits. Or, queue status will now be visible to support better staffing, call routing and training decisions.

Nextiva is required to collect federal, state and local government taxes, surcharges and fees, and this information will now be itemized on Nextiva invoices. Monthly invoices will include: subscription plan fee; package add ons; shipping; taxes and fees; phone numbers on account; and billing information, according to a company statement.
