Choosing Between Traditional and Virtual PBX Solutions

As virtual PBXs continue to gain popularity among business customers, VoIP providers are trying to lure customers in by offering the best VoIP package.

Compared to a traditional PBX, hosted and virtual PBX solutions yield better returns on investments to an organization. VoIP providers also typically would rather sell a hosted PBX because of much higher recurring revenue per extension basis compared to the per line basis, something seen when powering a traditional PBX.

On-site PBXs are ideal for businesses that want traditional analog lines for any reason. A major reason why firms would want to have analog lines is for redundancy in the case of Internet outage.

In a new VoIP guide featured on TelcoDepot.com, DigitalOlympus provides a step-by-step comparison of features found within both a traditional and virtual PBX phone system which in turn is helping businesses weigh the pros and cons during their selection process.

For example, if a business with traditional wiring and no data network is looking for a hosted PBX system, they can choose digital phone systems like Xblue X16 or Vertical SBX VoIP phone system.

However, some businesses may need additional extensions in order to manage incoming calls more effectively. In this case, a company should leverage an on-site PBX rather than opting for a hosted PBX. With a hosted solution, customers would have to pay a monthly fee on each extension.

When looking at the two offerings, sometimes an on-site PBX has much better call routing capabilities than hosted solution. This is because users can control many of the features independently. Hybrid VoIP phone systems, on the other hand, offer advanced features like call recording, multilevel auto attendant and free smart phone clients.

The best VoIP solution is highlighted as being a hybrid phone system that can support analog lines as needed while also providing virtualization through extensions, making call management easier and cheaper in the long run for businesses of any size.
