Unified communications (UC) comprises a host of technologies like virtual PBX, telepresence and collaboration. Cisco, a prominent name in unified communications technologies, has just enabled Turkiye Is Bankasi (Isbank), the largest bank of Turkey, to benefit from these technologies.

Isbank has deployed a Cisco Borderless Networks and Collaboration infrastructure to enhance business agility, speed up product and service development, and better serve its customers. As part of the network improvement, the bank also renewed its local area networks (LANs), and wide area network (WAN) with Cisco switching and routing solutions.

The bank is also using the new Cisco intelligent network as the platform for implementing a broad range of collaboration solutions.

The network, powered by Cisco technology, helps the bank connect nearly 25,000 employees and more than 1,200 branches in Turkey and Europe, offering secure data, voice and video communications. Isbank also improved business processes, enhanced the customer experience across the entire branch network, provides multichannel customer relationship management, and simplifies how employees collaborate over any device and from any location.

Cisco TelePresence endpoints are used at Isbank headquarters and nine regional offices for high-definition video conferencing. The central management of the entire infrastructure, including voice communication, results in significant savings of human capital and cost. Instead of 1,200 separate PBX systems, telephony is integrated on the IP-based network and is supported by one central team.

Further, the Cisco Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network (DMVPN), a Cisco software solution, has helped the bank allow diverse locations to communicate directly with each other over the public WAN or Internet, without the need for a permanent VPN connection between the sites.

"The technology solution which is implemented at Isbank is a key enabler for innovative business applications,” said Emrah Gökçe Aygün, IT Infrastructure manager, Turkiye Is Bankasi, in a statement. “With the new intelligent network in place, we now have the flexibility to expand any solution to any Isbank branch.”
