Palo Alto Networks 'Ignites' SASE Excitement

There’s no match required to spark the SASE flame, as we saw at this week’s Ignite ’21, with Palo Alto (News - Alert) Networks unveiling innovation, partnerships and peak at what’s ahead in network security, cloud security and security operations. 

Headlining the event’s announcements: Prisma Cloud 3.0, Next Generation CASB (Cloud Access Security Broker) and Cortex eXtended Managed Detection and Response (XMDR) Partner Specialization. Let’s take these one by one. 

Prisma Cloud 3.0 addresses the full application lifecycle. The Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) delivers cloud code security to embed critical protections in the dev process, agentless security to complement agent-based protection as well as Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM) for Microsoft (News - Alert) Azure. 

Palo Alto’s Next Generation CASB plays a key role in supporting the remote workforce and the SaaS applications underpinning productivity by automatically securing new applications, protecting data in real time and offering threat detection and prevention, spurring further SaaS (News - Alert) adoption.
The new Cortex XMDR Specialization empowers MSSP partners to combine Cortex XDR with managed service portfolios, providing more streamlined security operations center (SOC) operations and accelerated threat mitigation. Certifications and training are available to achieve Cortex XMDR Specialization status and unlock the complete capability of Cortex XDR 3.0. 

The SASE leader did not stop there, as it also announced the standalone API availability of Wildfire, its cloud-based threat analysis solution. Supported by crowdsourced data from more than 80,000 customers, users can leverage Wildfire capabilities, to secure points of vulnerability. 
Palo Alto’s Unit 42 noted a near 200% increase in cloud incidents over the past three years, causing Unit 42 to grow its Cloud Incident Response practice to deliver organizations an optimized approach for cloud incident lifecycle, and providing accelerated recovery for affected businesses. 

SASE is certainly embracing the spotlight. The digital era demands more from the network, and Palo Alto is putting its best foot forward to ensure secure, reliable network operations.
