Juniper Doubles Down on AI-Driven Enterprise Portfolio with 128 Technology Purchase

AI, automation and the self-healing network are just a few areas of innovation seeing increased attention in recent months. SASE, SD-WAN and their accomplice enterprise networking approaches are shining during the new normal, spurring a flurry of action in the arena.




Juniper Networks (News - Alert) has announced a definitive agreement to acquire 128 Technology for $450 million. In purchasing 128 Technology, Juniper introduces Session Smart technology, optimizes end user experience and can tout one of the most robust AI-driven enterprise networking portfolio.

“128 Technology (News - Alert) has brought to market a groundbreaking session-based routing solution that gives rise to experience-based networking. This allows our customers to realign their network with the requirements of a digital future that includes cloud, mobility and virtualization,” said Andy Ory, Co-Founder and CEO of 128 Technology.

When asked for comment, a Juniper representative explained the Mist AI engine will now be able to leverage insight into user experience via 128 Technology SSR. Once moved into the Mist engine, service providers and the enterprise gain improved visibility and automation. Now, Juniper can offer an unfettered path to fully AI-driven WAN operations by combining Juniper SD-WAN, WAN Assurance and Marvis Virtual Network Assistant with 128 Technology software

“The combination of our Session Smart Router with Juniper’s AI-driven enterprise portfolio, expansive channel and world-class support will dramatically accelerate our vision to transform networking and make a big impact on a very large, yet still highly under-served, WAN-Edge market,” Ory continued.
