VeloCloud Networks Inc. says it’s having good success with its partner program, which now has more than 100 members, including some newcomers from Asia and Europe. That’s important for the company, considering its go-to-market is exclusively via the channel.

The company continues to expand both the membership and the capabilities of the program. For example, this week VeloCloud introduced VeloCloud Powered. This is a certification for partners that offer solutions based on the VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN. Also, the company in June launched its VeloCloud Registered Partner portal. It’s an online resource through which channel partners can access customer presentations, how-to guides to selling, marketing collateral, training materials, use cases, videos, and more.

EarthLink, Epsilon, MicroAge Telecom, and Netone Systems of Japan are among VeloCloud’s channel partners.

"The SD-WAN market is enormous, so it's important to partner with a leader who has the right solution, partner program, training and tools to make selling and deploying SD-WAN easy and profitable," said Phil Tuckwiller, MicroAge Telecom Practice Manager. "VeloCloud's rapid deployment model makes proof of concepts easy and their differentiated architecture enables us to deliver high reliability, performance and quality of experience for our clients."

SD-WAN takes software-defined networking concepts and expands them to wide area networks. It enables organizations to leverage an array of existing connectivity types – such as cable modem-enabled broadband, DSL, LTE (News - Alert), and MPLS – and get the added value of flexibility of being able to pick and choose the underlying medium and service providers while having network visibility and the ability to do traffic prioritization. Various sources indicate the SD-WAN space will reach $3.2 billion by 2018, $12.1 billion by 2019, and $7.5 billion by 2020. In addition to VeloCloud, other players in the SD-WAN space include Cisco, Citrix, CloudGenix, FatPipe Networks, Glue Networks, Ipanema technologies, Nuage Networks (now part of Nokia), Ocedo, Riverbed (News - Alert), Silver Peak, SimpleWAN, Talari, Versa Networks, and Viptela.
