Ossia Says Ditch the Batteries with its Wirelessly Powered Security Cameras

Modern security cameras are typically powered by a direct power source, such as an electrical outlet or wired connection, rather than relying solely on battery power. But there are instances where security cameras need to be battery-powered, such locations where it may be difficult to run power cables.

When it comes to battery-powered security cameras, battery life is not reliable and tends to die at the worst times. Also, regularly checking the battery life is not ideal as the process can take a huge amount of time the more cameras one has.

Worry no more, though:  Ossia’s ARCHOS Cota Wireless Power Security Camera is made to install easily without the need for batteries, wiring or manual charging. This product is designed as an indoor security system and is managed through the cloud.

The wirelessly powered security system automatically delivers power over the air, without the need for user intervention, batteries or wiring. It can be placed in hard-to-access locations to discourage tampering, and can power multiple security cameras simultaneously (all without the need of frequent battery changes or wired charging).

"The ARCHOS Cota Wireless Power Security Camera works consistently and reliably, and receives power automatically, without worry of dead or low-charge batteries leaving expensive property vulnerable,” said Jennifer Grenz, CMO and CRO of Ossia.

The camera system comes with everything a business needs to set up their wirelessly powered security camera systems throughout their workplace. The cameras must be placed anywhere within 30 feet of the transmitters, and they do not need to be in each others’ lines of sight (since the security camera system transmits power through glass, sheetrock and wood, just like Wi-Fi). This means that the cameras can be placed in separate rooms or separate spaces entirely. It should be noted, though, that the system cannot transmit through brick or cement.

“With this system, organizations and builders will be making a huge step toward reducing their reliance on disposable batteries and decreasing their environmental footprint while improving security and overall sustainability," said Doug Stovall, CEO of Ossia.

There are currently two bundles available for preorder. The first bundle is made for commercial spaces that are about 600 to 800 square feet and includes one Cota Transmitter and three cameras. The second bundle is designed for larger commercial spaces of about 800 to 1,200 square feet and includes two Cota Transmitters and six cameras.
