Ooma Scores PC Mag's Top VoIP Services Spot

Hybrid business phone systems were already high on companies’ to-do list before the global COVID-19 pandemic. Once the pandemic shut down workplaces and raised the necessity of business VoIP systems that allowed workers to work from home, these phone solutions became the hottest commodity in the enterprise.

PC Magazine readers were recently asked to rate the VoIP services they use most. The goal was to help the magazine pick this year's Business Choice Award winners. So who came out on top?

“For the ninth year in a row, the voice services from Ooma have scored so well that the rest of the industry is probably wondering how they stay in business,” according to PC Mag’s editors. “Ooma only comes in second place for cost and ease of use, and even then, its scores are A- quality at worst. Ooma [is] not only making the cut but also scoring so high because our readers indicate it is the brand you should probably consider for your office's voice service, no matter how many employees work there.”

Sunnyvale, California-based Ooma turned in an 8.9 overall satisfaction rate, though it was down a bit from last year's 9.0. The company's highest score in the survey was 9.4 back in 2014. Satisfaction with the Ooma solution has not dipped below 8.7 out of 10 for the entire decade since PC Mag began dedicated surveys about business VoIP. Ooma was also the top performer in all but two of the categories, and even for those (cost and ease of use), it was a high-placing second to magicJack.

In the overall satisfaction category, Ooma’s 8.9 satisfaction rating was followed by Cisco, with an 8.7 rating, and Ring Central with an 8.5 rating. magicJack, which took the top spot for cost, came in fourth with an overall satisfaction rating of 8.4. It was followed by Google Voice in fifth place, with a rating of 8.2 percent.

“Everyone at Ooma is deeply honored to have won this recognition from PCMag because it comes from customers, the people who use our service every day to make their businesses more connected and more successful,” said Jim Gustke, vice president of marketing at Ooma, in a statement. “We are committed to continually improving Ooma Office to keep the loyalty of our valued customers.”

Ooma will serve as a Platinum Sponsor for MSP Expo 2022, Part of #TECHSUPERSHOW. MSPEXPO has been designed to help service providers understand how they can drive more recurring revenue, increase the valuation of their companies, grow, protect their networks and deliver better customer service. The show will take place June 21 - 24, 2022 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. For more information or to register, visit the show website
