Vonage to Acquire Conversational AI Platform

Vonage has been making waves recently with Nexmo, a preeminent API platform, but isn’t stopping there. In a space as crowded and competitive as cloud communications there is no time to rest on laurels, and the provider is pushing the envelope of capability with a recent acquisition.

Vonage announced intention to acquire a number of assets from Over.ai. In specific, the cloud communications provider will purchase the Tel-Aviv-based voice and conversational AI provider’s technical team and intellectual property from i.am+.

"Leveraging these capabilities into our solutions will empower Vonage to drive exceptional customer experiences by providing a premiere service for every interaction; reducing wait times to zero; and resolving customer issues quickly and effectively using natural language conversation."

In purchasing the AI platform, Vonage is doing so from member of The Black Eyed Peas will.i.am, co-founder and co-owner of i.am+. And will see an influx of 23 new members to its research and development hub in Tel Aviv from a manpower side of things, but from the technical side this is also a robust addition.

Vonage will be able to leverage Over.ai’s conversational AI platform to further infuse its solutions with virtual assistants and enhance its overall portfolio by assisting businesses by superbly pairing human agents and automation. Over.ai’s API becomes a welcomed addition to an already deep arsenal.
