Vonage Advantageous with Acquired API Platform

APIs are nothing new, but have gained growing attention in recent times. Used as a means of integration and enhancement, APIs empower innovative communication solutions. Seeking to capitalize on the cloud communications space and beyond, Vonage acquired Nexmo in June and this week has been granted its first patent for the newly acquired entity. The patent brings the business VoIP provider’s grand total to 146, with more than that still pending.

The beauty in the Vonage API platform is that it allows developers to embed interaction (text, video, audio) within websites, business systems and applications to improve customer engagement, and the newly-issued patent (U.S. Pat. No. 9,485,169) involves Vonage’s Adaptive Routing. This proprietary technology offers optimal stability, latency and deliverability for users leveraging Nexmo for contextual text messaging.

In regard to Adaptive Routing, it is as it sounds. The Nexmo platform continuously monitors available routes for text messages, and is able to utilize real time data to determine the best route to send a message. Keep in mind the platform currently processes over 60 million data points per month, which gives unique insight and perspective on network performance.
