SkySwitch, Bigleaf Networks Combine to Produce Better VoIP

Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) is fundamentally changing the way we conduct business, making it easier to connect businesses and customers both between and among each group with simple, easy-to-use tools. Two names in comparative fields—cloud-based software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) firm Bigleaf Networks and private branch exchange (PBX) and unified communications and collaboration as a service (UCCaaS) provider SkySwitch—recently got together to make a great new proposition for businesses.

The new partnership adds SkySwitch's white-label operations to Bigleaf's Cloud Assurance Program, a system that helps provide the best in performance for VoIP systems  and the like. With SkySwitch added in, customers will get access to improvements in not only voice service, but also in data and cloud services thanks to several of Bigleaf's best features, like analytics tools for network performance.

Plus, Bigleaf offers a couple of proprietary tools that are actually patent-pending, at last report, including its Intelligent Load Balancing system and its Dynamic Quality-of-Service (QoS) tools. With these in place, Bigleaf can engage in real-time failover options, allowing for rerouting in the middle of a session if need be. That means near-total control of both upload and download traffic, and ultimately, even help for those systems that have variable bandwidth. A web app even offers visibility and reporting tools on network issues like jitter, latency, and packet loss.

Joel Mulkey, Bigleaf's founder and CEO, commented “We're excited to add SkySwitch to our Cloud Assurance portfolio. Combining Bigleaf with their VoIP and UC platform, their resellers can offer a joint package to end customers that provides an outstanding experience.”

This sums up rather well what Bigleaf and SkySwitch can do together. Offering a better service to customers is a fast way to achieve better market results, by virtue of drawing interest away from competitors and into their own operations. It helps that the service being offered was already in fairly intense demand, establishing a broad pool of potential customers for such a service. Now, by improving the service substantially, Bigleaf and SkySwitch have a better chance of taking a larger market share and delivering value into the field.

That's a recipe for long-term success; by delivering better value into a field where there are large numbers of customers, it's setting things up to take a bigger slice of a large market. In the end, this should work out nicely for both Bigleaf and SkySwitch, though the competition will have to work quite a bit harder to break the edge these two have taken on.
