It is no secret that VoIP is becoming the preferred method for business communications. Recent research from Transparency Market Research projects that by 2020 there will be nearly 350 million subscribers of this nascent technology, and this would be the result of a compound annual growth rate of nearly 10 percent. Businesses enjoy the scalability, cost savings and functionality found in this burgeoning communications method.

Illustrating this trend, today the Medical Consultants Network (MCN) selected MegaPath for its business VoIP services, and estimates savings of 50 percent on its associated communications cost. MegaPath will be deploying Hosted Voice and Unified Communications (UC) as well as Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) and connect MCN’s 15 locations with a secure MPLS network.

Andrew Turner, Director of IT, Medical Consultants Network noted “With multiple clients nationwide we’re always mindful of savings for our clients by keeping expenses low. After implementing MegaPath’s solutions, we anticipate that we’ll save 50 percent a year on telecom costs. Additionally, MegaPath’s Unified Communications capabilities are improving the way we communicate across the company by giving our employees access to real-time collaboration and mobility features.”

With the MegaPath deployment, employees can now have one number for in and out of the office, leverage SMS, video conferencing, screen sharing as well as softphone capability.

MCN provides medical judgment services, which require stringent network security to ensure the secure delivery of sensitive communications. MegaPath provides this through its Unified Threat Management (UTM) and private network services.

“At MegaPath, we take pride in helping our customers save money, while supporting their efforts to operate securely and efficiently,” said Kurt Hoffman, President, MegaPath. “Because we offer a broad range of services, companies can look to MegaPath as their one-stop shop for all of their communications needs. Our work with MCN is an example of how we can partner with our customers to provide a secure voice and data network that improves productivity while delivering huge savings.”

VoIP is the modern means of business communication; its functionality, scalability and cost savings make a pretty strong case for utilization. I’m not one for predictions, but I wouldn’t expect VoIP adoption to do anything but escalate in the coming months and years. I guess only time will tell.
