Got Business Communications Problems? Get VoIP

In the wide-open technology landscape, VoIP has become quite a common name. It’s hard not to search the Internet without coming up with a list of reasons to switch to VoIP; with its many benefits, it’s an attractive option for businesses that have communications problems that need solving. In what ways can VoIP help you avoid some of the more common communication pitfalls associated with a traditional telephone system?

If you’re a business that has multiple locations, consider how VoIP’s offerings can provide free internal communications, thereby cutting down costs that would otherwise be astronomical with a traditional system. Because calls are made on the same network, it mitigates paying for extra lines that could easily run a bill up.

Of course, if your business has offices that are geographically dispersed across the globe, you won’t have to pay for international numbers that customers may not want to dial. Clients and customers can dial the same number they always have and get the person they are trying to reach despite their location. Calls can be forwarded to landlines or mobile phones and clients or colleagues never need to know.

In order to remain competitive in the marketplace, businesses must be nimble, growing and expanding locations and services. But just as businesses must be flexible, so, too must their telephone system. VoIP can scale up or down depending on your business needs, so you’re only paying for what you absolutely must use.

Perhaps one of the more common misconceptions about VoIP is that it lacks voice quality. This simply isn’t true. Broadband has improved over the years, so VoIP has improved as well. Today, packets are able to travel through the Internet extremely fast, delivering crisp, clear VoIP at a fraction of the cost of traditional telephony. For businesses, this helps improve efficiency and productivity.

Today, workforces need to be mobile, and with traditional telephony, that wouldn’t be a very good match. In addition to home offices, VoIP is available on current smartphones and other mobile devices so that remote workers can still work while on field visits or client appointments. Mobile VoIP expands the call cost advantages of VoIP business phone systems to workforces on the go. Staff can make calls from their mobile phone as if they were sitting at their workstations, without incurring excess mobile charges.

Given all of its features and how they can improve business functions, it’s no wonder VoIP has managed to stay relevant, giving businesses with communications problems a big boost.
