Business VoIP a Key SMB Technology for 2015

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) often have little extra time or resources, and may as a result be using outdated business technology and services. But, in doing so, SMBs hurt their bottom line because they’re not using tools designed for their specific needs.


Business VoIP is one area where SMBs can move past being stuck between enterprise technology and consumer products, and obtain modern tools that help them operate more effectively.

Business VoIP benefits SMBs in many ways, such as maximizing returns and streamlining operations. It truly is a tool for working smarter, not harder.

With business VoIP, an SMB can use its existing hardware (phones) and high-speed internet access to create a very efficient, low-cost voice communications system for customers, employees, and vendors.

Presenting a professional first impression, at very low cost, is easy with a VoIP phone system. Typical features include extension dialing, conference bridge, and virtual receptionist.

And, by the way, business VoIP is not just about voice calls.  Often, VoIP systems include faxing and a variety of ‘unified communications’ options that improve productivity by tying together instant messaging, email, and other communications channels.

Despite its many benefits, business VoIP need not be intimidating to research, choose, and put to use. In a relatively short amount of time, an SMB can look at their existing phone system, its associated expenses, and VoIP alternatives.

In most areas, small business owners do not settle for the status quo, but they often fall into that trap when it comes to business technology. Business VoIP is just one example of why doing so is harmful, and also unnecessary.
