Onebox, a provider of hosted unified communications service and business VoIP solutions, has launched the latest version of its popular mobile application for Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

The new VoIP functionality enables Onebox customers to make and receive business VoIP phone calls via a Wi-Fi connection or a 3G/4G network, enabling them to stay reliably connected to their business from anywhere in the world.

With this service, the business VoIP provider transforms these mobile devices into a multi-purpose business communications center with powerful features including a 24/7 auto attendant, multiple extensions for employees, enhanced voicemail service with transcriptions and audio files sent to e-mail or text, and advanced call handling features including call screening.

By leveraging the new features, users can reduce the cost of domestic and international calls. The service allows them to make high quality calls from their iPhone, even in areas with poor or no mobile coverage.

More importantly, the iPad can be used as a phone, making and taking calls without a mobile phone or calling plan. Users can even give their iPhone a second number-one for personal use and the other for business use, according to a press release.

“By bringing Onebox's most powerful features -- like a business phone number and VoIP calling – to their favorite devices, we're giving our customers an even greater edge in running their businesses on the move," said Mike Pugh, vice president marketing for j2 Global, in a statement.

virtual-pbx recently revealed that a survey conducted by WhichVoIP, a website that offers detailed comparisons of residential and business VoIP phones has revealed that low operating costs and highly useful features are the top two reasons WhichVoIP’s business customers transitioned to VoIP services.
