Belden, which develops signal transmission products for the industrial, enterprise, broadcast, building management and security markets,
has announced the launch of Hirschmann RS22 and RS32 Fast/Gigabit Ethernet Managed Switches to its OpenRail Switch product family.
Belden’s comprehensive line of industrial solutions consist of Hirschmann switches and active networking devices, Lumberg Automation connectivity and Belden cables. These products offer greater reliability for standard industrial, extreme environment or mission-critical applications.
Officials said the new RS Series switches are available with Fast Ethernet ports, four of which support Power over Ethernet (PoE) and data transmissions using the Phantom Power Poe. This permits the use of 2-pair cabling systems.
The uplink ports can be designated as RJ45 connectors as well as for any combination of optical fiber connectors, such as MTRJ, ST or SC. RJ45 or SFP ports (10/100/1000Base-TX).
Also, since the switches feature integrated power management, the power supply is adjustable for each individual port. Upon request, the circuit boards are available with a conformal coating for protection against condensation.
The functions that can be managed by means of SNMP v1, v2 and v3, or TELNET, include redundancy mechanisms such as Rapid Spanning Tree and HIPER-Ring, access control according to IEEE (

With their fan-less cooling and optional redundant voltage supply, RS Series switches provide high operational safety.
The status of the switches can be locally retrieved through signaling contacts, with detailed information accessible for display using a standard Web browser. The company also provides another central management function by the integrated SNMP interface to permit the use of network management software.
In another
announcement, Belden said it is launching Hirschmann Industrial Wireless LAN Access Points featuring IEEE 802.11N Wireless Interface. Hirschmann Industrial WLAN Access Points are available in two models: BAT300-Rail, designed for installation on standard DIN rails in control cabinets, and BAT300-F with IP67 housings for direct field installation, officials said.
