Motorola Debuts MC9500, the Industrial-Class Handheld Device

Motorola has unveiled the new MC9500, a premium industrial-class Windows Mobile powered handheld device.
 
Designed for tough industrial situations, the MC9500 will increase productivity, streamline operations and reduce total cost of ownership.
 
The MC9500 is built on Motorola’s (News - Alert) MC9000 mobile computing functionalities and is also is packed with new features like modular 3.5G WAN for enterprise mobility solution.



 
The MC9500 mobile computer delivers reliable performance for mobile workforces in the transportation and logistics, parcel/post, direct store delivery, field service and public safety industries. For instance, the MC9500 sports an accelerometer so courier personal can tip the device toward a delivery customer and have the screen flip around for signing and the device has five swappable keypads.
 
Gerald McNerney, vice president of mobile computing product management at Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions, said that Motorola will change the mobile computing market landscape with the introduction of the MC9000.
 
“The new MC9500 is a testament to our commitment to innovation and demonstrates our continued ability to redefine the industry standard with the most versatile solutions on the market,” McNerney said.
 
Powered by Marvell XScale PXA320 running at 806 MHz processor and Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows Mobile 6.1 OS, the MC9500 brings latest technology to the mobile workforce and the integrated GPS functionality can offer coverage in the most challenging environments for reliable location-based services.
 
The MC9500 is also said to be the first Motorola mobile computing device that uses the Motorola Mobility Platform Architecture 2.0 and can run on 3.5G GSM HSPDA and 3.5G CDMA-EVDO Rev A networks.
 
Some of the components Motorola has integrated into the MC9500 are a three mega-pixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.7” 640 x 480 display.
 
Additionally, there is a 1D laser scanner or 2D imager for data capture, along with the added bonus of military-grade ruggedness that transportation and warehouse workplaces demand.
 
Magnalink delivered ultra-broadband services to the city of Hradec Kralove in Czech Republic by using Motorola Home & Networks Mobility solutions and Motorola had announced several innovative enhancements to its One Point Wireless Suite.
