BelAir Networks Leads WLAN / Wi-Fi Mesh market in Q2

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

Ontario, Canada based Wi-Fi equipment provider BelAir Networks has once again captured the greatest share in the North American WLAN / Wi-Fi mesh market, according to a recent report.

BelAir Networks’ achievement featured in the recently released Q2 2009 Dell’ (News - Alert)Oro Group Wireless LAN quarterly report. Even in Q1, BelAir Networks emerged as the market leader, said a recent TMCnet report.
The increased demand for Wi-Fi access in high-traffic areas is a result of the burgeoning number of dual mode smartphones, such as the iPhone (News - Alert), and other Wi-Fi enabled devices. BelAir Networks has been fulfilling this growing demand, working closely with cable and cellular operators. This has helped the company achieve 8 consecutive quarters of market share growth and leadership.
“Partnering with Tier 1 service providers has enabled BelAir Networks to enjoy consistent growth, reflected in both revenue and market share,” said Bernard Herscovich, president and CEO, BelAir Networks. “Cable operators are using Wi-Fi to attract and retain broadband customers while cellular operators are using it to offload data traffic from their 3G networks, and BelAir Networks is clearly benefitting from both of these trends.”
BelAir Networks offers a full range of products including BelAir20 AP, the flagship four-radio BelAir200, the BelAir200D for Defense applications, the two and three-radio BelAir100, BelAir100T, BelAir100D, and BelAir100M, and the strand-mounted BelAir100S. The products support Wi-Fi, WiMAX (News - Alert), 4.9 GHz Public Safety, 5.9 GHz ITS, and 4.4 GHz Military spectrum bands, and are powered by the robust BelAirOS operating system software.
Powered by the BelAir Operating System, BelAir’s networks are managed through the BelView Network Management System (NMS) software. WiFi (News - Alert) and WiMAX enabled, the networks can operate on the 4.9 GHz band for public safety networks, 5.9 GHz band for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) networks or the 4.4 GHz band for military networks.
