The latest version of SurfBouncer, a personal VPN (virtual private network) software service that protects Internet users at wireless hotspots and unblocks overseas Web sites, has been released again with a new static IP service.
With the help of this new service, users can have a static IP address with all the benefits of a VPN without a constant IP address for their connections.
In general, a virtual private network (VPN) is a computer network in which some of the links between nodes are carried either by open connections or virtual circuits in some larger network.
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a numerical identification that is assigned to devices connected in a computer network utilizing the Internet protocol for communication between the nodes.
SurfBouncer is a personal VPN subscription service that operates on the company’s encrypted network and offers access to high encryption servers. This secures a user’s connection to the Internet. The software service is based on OpenVPN, which is a tested open source product.
The SurfBouncer technology connects a computer directly, via encrypted tunnel, to its servers, whether located in United States or Europe. It enables secure connection from any Windows, Mac or Linux computer. The VPN encrypted tunnel, which is the key part of SurfBouncer technology, functions by wrapping the data that goes from the user’s computer in a shielded bubble and then sends it to a remote server outside of the open network. This facilitates in transmission of data in complete privacy even on networks with thousands of users and having no encryption.
Apart from offering encrypted protection for user’s data, similar to the classic version of the software service, the static IP service assigns device with same IP address regardless of the user’s location. This enables device such as computer to have a single IP address even while on the go. This feature finds importance when user wants to access web sites that expect the same IP address every time.
The original personal VPN service and the Static IP service, both, are enabled with another functionality, which has the capability to replace computers local IP address with the server’s remote IP address. This basically helps in preventing malicious web sites from obtaining the local IP address and location, thereby eliminating the fear of identity theft.
With the help of SurfBouncer services, people located in countries that filter the Internet and block IP phones and Web sites are now able to unblock them. The company’s service is useful in countries such as Bahrain, Belize, Brazil, China, Egypt, Guyana, Jordan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, (KSA) Saudi Arabia, UAE (United Arab Emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi) and Yemen, where some Web sites are blocked and cannot be accessed when not in the location. Now, with the help of the company’s services, people are able to unblock Web sites, because the exit point of the encrypted connection is outside their country, in places where the Internet is not blocked.
SurfBouncer also offers VPN appliances, dedicated VPN servers, flash drive VPNs and a host of other offerings and features.
