Azimuth Systems has announced the major milestones that mark its growth in the wireless broadband market in the year 2008. The year 2008 witnessed Azimuth increasing its customer base by around 25 percent as well as an increase of 30 percent in the channel emulator revenue year-over-year.

The company also formed a number of partnerships in the wireless broadband industry during the past year. Azimuth Systems provide wireless broadband test equipment and channel emulators for Wi-Fi, WiMAX (News - Alert) and 2G/3G technologies.

The year 2008 saw the headquarters of Azimuth being relocated near Boston, Massachusetts. The customer base also increased to contain some notable additions. At present, 155 of the leading wireless semiconductor, infrastructure and mobile equipment vendors are part of the customer list.

According to Jim Iuliano, the CEO of Azimuth systems, the company will continue to provide its customers with reliable test equipment and channel emulators that are designed to meet the needs of latest generation wireless, carrier-grade networks and solutions.

Azimuth released three new ACE models in the year 2008. These models are optimized for Wi-Fi, 2x2 MIMO WiMAX performance and uni-directional conformance testing. The product line has also been enhanced with requisite frequencies, channel models and tools to support emerging technologies as well as the features that will enable testing and backward compatibility with 2G and 3G mobile technologies. The expansion of the product line to address the needs of the emerging technologies has also been initiated by Azimuth.

Azimuth started operations in India, China and Hong Kong in the past year. The company also added Creanord as its distributor for its European operations. The year 2008 also marked accomplishments such as Belkin selecting the Ace channel emulator and ADEPT-n MIMO test platform to automate the testing of its N and N1 wireless networking product lines.

The work with Wi-Fi alliance was continued which resulted in the success of the 802.11n Wi-Fi Certification Test Suite. Working alongside industry standards groups such as WiMAX Forum (News - Alert), 3GPPand the International Wireless Industry Consortium, the company’s technical contributions helped to drive important standards improvements.

The leadership team at Azimuth was strengthened with the appointment of George Reed as the vice president of marketing and product management. The MITX Technology Customer Impact Award was given to Azimuth’s ACE 400WB MIMO Channel Emulator in recognition of its impact on customer ability to develop innovative technology. The Azimuth FMC Performance Test was also awarded with the UMA Innovation Award for best test solution. Azimuth is confident of repeating the success of the past year in 2009 as well with its portfolio of wireless test products and solutions.
