Baycom Broadband, a Green Bay, Wisconsin-based provider of wireless communications solutions,
reportedly acquired TheGlobalNet, a wireless Internet service provider in the northeastern part of the state.
With the acquisition, Baycom officials say they’ll have a presence in three additional counties, expanding their footprint to 400 square miles across rural Wisconsin.
According to Baycom President Steve Elias, the company’s goal is to provide reliable high-speed wireless Internet service and to support customers.
“This acquisition helps expand our service network with the potential to reach over 600,000 residents and businesses throughout the state,” Elias said.
High-speed Internet is widely available in metro areas, but most suburban and rural communities remain stuck with slow dial-up connections, company officials say. With Baycom, those communities are expected to receive better and faster means to remain connected.
Baycom officials say they’ve worked with the Wisconsin’s government for more than 50 years.
Marcus Rand of the Royal Scot Golf Club in New Franken, Wisconsin, said his club continuously searches for ways to improve customer experience.
“By providing Baycom high-speed wireless Internet, we can improve our operations and let our customers work and play at the same time,” Rand said.
Norb Zitzelsberger, President of Norb’s Truck Sales, said he relies on Baycom’s high-speed Internet service to power his business Web site and e-mail for all truck sales
“The service has been flawless and really helps us operate efficiently,” Zitzelsberger said.
Baycom has been aggressive with its growth plans. Recently, it built a stronger customer service team, and expanded its network to offer broadband services to Wisconsin residents. In the past 18 months, the company has also deployed more than 20 new antenna sites and tower locations.
