Freescale to Acquire Intoto

By Niladri Sekhar Nath, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Freescale Semiconductor is all set to purchase Intoto (News - Alert), a provider of software platform products for networking and communications equipment manufacturers.

Following the acquisition, Freescale intends to apply Intoto’s technology to create high-performance applications and software components designed to improve system performance, streamline development and enhance software support for its QorIQ multicore communications platforms.

QorIQ platforms are Freescale’s new brand of communications processors designed to take embedded multicore to new levels of adoption.

“Successful multicore development requires a deep understanding of how the architecture, applications and operating systems integrate to achieve system solution and performance goals,” said Lynelle McKay, senior vice president and general manager for Freescale’s Networking and Multimedia Group.

“Intoto’s leading-edge development team strengthens our QorIQ solution and helps us offer our customers software applications expertise that assists their migration to embedded multicore,” added McKay.

Freescale Semiconductor (News - Alert) designs embedded semiconductors for the automotive, consumer, industrial, networking and wireless markets. The company is based in Austin, Texas, and has design, research and development, manufacturing or sales operations in more than 30 countries.
