Tyco Electronics Enables Multiple DAS Deployments in Dallas

By Raja Singh Chaudhary, TMCnet Contributor

Tyco Electronics, a provider of solutions and services for wireless, wireline, cable and enterprise networks, has announced that it has offered its InterReach Fusion and FlexWave Prism distributed antenna systems or ‘DAS’, to enable high-quality mobile services for AT&T (News - Alert) subscribers at a number of sports and hospitality venues.

America’s premier professional football event is going to take place at Dallas in early February, and as a part of the preparations these deployments are being made at various stadiums, hotels, performing arts venues and security centers. The company has been providing DAS for in-building and microcellular networks to enhance the creation, deployment and operation of mobile service delivery networks for new mobile applications.

“While we have been planning these deployments for a year in some cases, we knew we would come down to the wire in getting some of them deployed,” commented Chris Jurasek, vice president of the Wireless and Services business unit at Tyco Electronics (News - Alert). “The InterReach Fusion and FlexWave Prism systems deliver coverage and capacity in all of these varied properties and they could be deployed quickly, within four days in one case.”

The company has provided its offerings to enable a number of deployments, which include FlexWave Prism systems at TCU Stadium and SMU Stadium, both of which will be used as practice facilities by the opposing teams. Another set of solutions, InterReach Fusion systems have been deployed at the Anatole and Adolphus hotels, and two Dallas Performing Arts Centers to offer mobile services for 3G on the 700MHz, 800MHz, 1900MHz and 2100 MHz frequency bands with MIMO functionality.

“At a major sporting event like this where tens of thousands of fans, media reporters, and team members will be gathered in these venues, a breakdown in mobile communications would be very disruptive,” said Chris Jurasek, vice president of the Wireless and Services business unit of Tyco Electronics. “We are proud to have been selected as the provider of the wireless systems that will enable AT&T subscribers to enjoy high-quality mobile services no matter how large the crowd.”
