CDG is 'One with the Elements' via Rebranded Platform Launch for Service Providers and Carriers

By Alex Passett June 03, 2024

Let’s talk about Communications Data Group (News - Alert), or CDG.

I recall publishing an article last month from fellow editor Greg Tavarez concerning CDG and an alliance it established with AWS partner Innovation Incubator. That interesting story went up on our GenAI Today site; read it in full here.

The gist, as far as pertinent CDG info, is simple:

CDG’s expertise lies in its OSS/BSS platform, a tool harnessed for more smartly managing service delivery and network operations. As an operator-driven OSS/BSS provider, CDG’s CEO, CTO and CFO all boast extensive C-level experience working for telecom service providers. Having garnered experience since 1970, CDG’s clients represent large national carriers, as well as both established and emerging competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) and incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs); the comprehensive list can be found here.

The long-story-short version?

CDG provides OSS/BSS solutions that fit an immense variety of business needs.

And in that vein, we have news that broke at the end of May:

CDG has announced the upcoming launch of its newly rebranded platform – Elements.

The Elements platform, according to the official announcement, is about more than managing and invoicing subscriber, enterprise, wholesale and carrier services; it “unifies all the components that comprise CDG's existing Modularity Billing System (MBS), BDS-I, and Mediation products and provides a singular architecture for developing and deploying new elements, such as AI-driven customer service chatbots, operational awareness tools, and generative business intelligence (BI) solutions.”

CDG’s CEO and CTO commented on the news.

“Our vision is to revolutionize the telecommunications industry by creating operator-driven, innovative, open architecture solutions that empower service providers and carriers to deliver exceptional services to their customers,” stated CDG CEO Jason Dandridge. “We have evolved beyond being just a billing provider for telecom services and CABS, and the Elements platform represents the next stage in our journey to develop and deploy the best cloud-based, SaaS (News - Alert)-delivered OSS/BSS platform in the market for service providers and carriers offering retail and wholesale broadband, data, utility, and interconnect services.”

For additional context and impact, CDG CTO Tony Stout explained further.

"When MBS and BDS-I, formerly known as CDG CABS, were originally created decades ago, they were designed and delivered in different environments. CDG is undergoing a complete transformation in how we develop and deliver our platform solutions. The MBS and BDS-I systems are now being aligned on a single architecture platform through our strategic transition to AWS and the transformation of BDS-I to a two-tier web application. MBS and BDS-I already share existing elements, like Mediation, Business Intelligence, and Reporting that cross the original product environment boundaries, and our new generative AI-powered solutions will have applications for both subscriber and carrier services, so unifying their branding around the platform was a logical step from both a development and marketing perspective."
