When it comes to business communications, one name stands out as a beacon of innovation and reliability: Mitel. With a storied history, The Ottawa-based company has risen to prominence as a global market leader, powering more than 2 billion business connections worldwide.
Mitel (News - Alert)'s product portfolio spans from traditional voice communication systems to unified communications and cloud-based solutions. Their offerings enable businesses to integrate voice, video, messaging and collaboration tools into a single platform, making communication more efficient and effective. As the business world continues to embrace remote work and digital collaboration, Mitel is committed to adapting to these evolving trends and adding more to its product profile.
The company recently closed on its previously published plans to acquire Unify, the unified communications and collaboration and communication and collaboration services businesses of the Atos group. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Through this acquisition, Mitel expands its portfolio with Unify (News - Alert)'s voice platforms, collaboration and contact center products, devices and associated intellectual property, offering increased choice and flexibility for customers' communication needs. This integration also enhances Mitel's ability to provide specialized vertical solutions and integration capabilities, particularly in sectors like healthcare, public services, hospitality and finance.

In other words, with Unify, Mitel now has a combined customer base of more than 75 million users in over 100 countries and an expanded community of more than 5,500 resellers, service providers, technology and strategic alliance partners poised to help even more organizations modernize and adapt their communications capabilities to meet the evolving needs of today’s workplace.
“This is a transformative milestone for the Mitel and Unify teams and for the broader communication and collaboration industry," said Mitel President and CEO Tarun Loomba. "Unify brings a strong geographic footprint, rich portfolio, deep enterprise expertise, and talented team that perfectly complement Mitel’s strengths.”
The transaction solidifies the combined company's global leadership in UC, ranking second globally in enterprise UC market share and first in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as in over 10 individual countries. Mitel also maintains its position as the worldwide market leader in multi-cell digital enhanced cordless telecommunications and secures the top spot for DECT (News - Alert) in EMEA, Latin America and 19 countries.
“It has been a privilege to lead Unify to this pivotal moment as a resilient, profitable and growing business, and I am confident that the union of our two organizations will not only strengthen our market position but also drive innovation, growth, and lasting success," said Marcus Hänsel, Mitel Chief Sales Officer.
Loomba will serve as president and CEO of the combined company. Hänsel is appointed Chief Sales Officer to lead Mitel’s sales and services functions globally.
Resellers and strategic technology partners of Mitel and Unify can expect a smooth transition, with little to no change anticipated this year. As the integration unfolds, establishing unified partner and alliance programs that deliver meaningful value for partners is a top priority.
