New Report via Juniper Research and VOX Network Solutions on the Global Voice Market

By Alex Passett January 30, 2023

Back in our ad rem news cycle (after Friday’s piece on the Future Digital Awards 2023) is Juniper Research, provider of digital tech data, intelligence forecasts, and shelf-syndicated research reports and consultancy. Juniper Research partnered with VOX Network Solutions (News - Alert), contact center, network, security and managed services provider known for its prescriptive methodologies in monetization solutions for mobile voice and messaging.

So, why the partnership? Together, Juniper Research (News - Alert) and VOX released a new white paper titled “The Future of Monetisable Voice” on what to expect regarding evolutions in the global voice market.

The study itself begins by forecasting that the total mobile voice market revenue is set to decline; specifically from $240 billion in 2022 to approximately $200 billion by the end of 2026. This decrease is expected to be driven by both the continued migration of P2P voice traffic to OTT channels, as well as the overall rapid growth of malicious fraud threats like voice phishing, or vishing. (For any unaware, a short-and-sweet summary on vishing can be found here, courtesy of the University of Michigan).

The white paper also outlines new opportunities for operators to consider, in terms of best alleviating such a downward revenue trend. These include wholesale Contact-Center-as-a-Service (CCaaS), flash calling, programmable voice, and advanced firewalls to secure existing traffic.

Sam Barker, Head of Analytics & Forecasting at Juniper Research, as well as Ehsan Ahmadi, CEO of VOX Network Solutions, added more to this conversation.

"The decline of mobile voice revenue has plagued operators for several years and is an issue that is expected to persist,” Barker said. “As a result, operators must increasingly focus on service development that tackles the decline of voice-related ARPU (Average Revenue per User).”

“It is now or never,” Ahmadi said, “for operators to partner with innovators, such as VOX Solutions, which can help them focus on new opportunities that exist within the voice market to optimize and protect their traffic and revenue. With proper monetization tools, mobile operators can increase their revenue by a minimum of 210% on A2P and more than 50% on P2P in the first 12 months.”
