NextNav's Vertical Location Meets Convey911's Multilanguage Service

By Greg Tavarez December 06, 2022

Any 911 situation is serious – that’s why authorities and regulators place so much emphasis on efficiency and accuracy of 911 communications. American residents need to be certain their communications with first responders seamlessly to get the right message and information to the right people. That includes location data, because every second counts.

The use of text and multimedia in emergency services is why Convey911 provides a platform for public safety personnel to engage with emergency callers via text and multimedia messaging in more than 135 languages. Overcoming a language barrier saves valuable time and prompts quicker responses to emergencies.

Language is important. And location is just as important because the first responders need to be able to locate the emergency’s location not only on the x-axis and y-axis, but also the z-axis especially in buildings with multiple floors – as provided by NextNav. And the integration of NextNav with Convey911’s solution allows agencies to leverage actionable z-axis data and visualization with access to multiple languages.

NextNav’s Pinnacle network delivers accurate vertical positioning, reflecting the 3D world. Its TerraPoiNT network delivers accurate, reliable and resilient 3D positioning, navigation and timing services to support critical infrastructure and other GPS-reliant systems in the absence or failure of GPS.

"Having the ability to provide native-language communications for millions of Americans reduces errors," said Dan Hight, vice president of business development and partnerships at NextNav. "With NextNav's z-axis service integrated into Convey911's platform, those who need to be located in times of crisis will be, regardless of language, nationality or elevation."

NextNav claims that its Pinnacle network delivers precise vertical location in 4,400 cities and towns and captures 90% of buildings greater than three stories in the U.S. NextNav Pinnacle powers applications across the public safety community to support stronger situational awareness for first responders.

Jeff Bruns, CEO and co-founder of Convey911, supports the claim and capabilities that are provided by NextNav: “With the ability now to add the 'Holy Grail' of location from NextNav, our agency clients will have the most precise location available in the industry for x, y and z.”
