Jeff has served as a director since inception and as chief operating officer from inception until November 2005 when he became president and CEO. In 1995, Jeff co-founded and was vice president of operations of EdgeNet Inc., a privately held Internet service provider (which was sold to Citadel Broadcasting Corporation in 1997 and became eFortress (eFortress)) through 1999. He holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts

Alvarion Keynote

Dr. Shakouri serves in the executive management team of Alvarion Ltd in the position of Corporate Vice President, Innovation and Marketing. In addition, Dr. Shakouri serves in a prominent industry role as a Vice President of WiMAX Forum and is also a member of WiMAX Forum board of directors. Dr. Shakouri is regarded as a visionary in WiMAX industry where he has been instrumental in growing WiMAX into a multi billion dollar industry. Considered to be the leading voice for the WiMAX industry, Dr. Shakouri’s diligent efforts have created a global reach for WiMAX Forum with regional presence in many countries. Prior to joining Alvarion, Dr. Shakouri was with Lucent Technologies where he was responsible for managing, building and developing network solutions for European and South American broadband wireless markets.

Before joining Lucent, Dr. Shakouri spent fourteen years in technical and management positions with Hewlett Packard developing microwave and fiber optic communication components and systems. He co-founded the wireless systems division, where he was responsible for the engineering team developing low-cost residential digital wireless systems for U.S. and Asian markets. Dr. Shakouri earned his doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University on Subpicosecond GaAs Wafer Probe Systems. In addition to his industry leadership position with the WiMAX Forum, Dr. Shakouri is also on the advisory board for the Wireless Communication Alliance and is an IEEE MTT-SVC 2004 chairman.

Sir Terence Matthews is Chairman of Wesley Clover and also serves as Chairman of Mitel and March Networks, two companies active in developing Internet Protocol (IP) systems for enterprise applications.

Prior to joining March Networks, he served as CEO and Chairman of Newbridge Networks Corporation, a company he founded in 1986. Providing leadership and vision for 14 years, Terry helped Newbridge become a leader in the worldwide data networking industry. When France-based Alcatel acquired Newbridge in May 2000, the company employed more than 6,500 employees and recorded FY 1999 revenue of $1.8 billion. In 1972, before launching Newbridge, Terry co-founded Mitel Corporation. Under his leadership Mitel grew quickly to become a world leader in the design and manufacture of enterprise voice systems and products. In 1985, British Telecom bought controlling interest in Mitel.

In 2001, Terry purchased the worldwide Communications Systems division of Mitel, and the Mitel name. Terry is a major investor in Mitel Networks Corporation, a company focused on providing next generation Unified Communications solutions, and holds the position of non-executive Chairman. Terry also serves as Chairman or Director for a number of high technology companies including Bridgewater Systems, March Networks, Solace Systems and Counterpath Corporation.

In addition Terry holds an honours degree in electronics from the University of Wales, Swansea and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has been awarded honorary doctorates by several universities, including the University of Wales, Glamorgan and Swansea, and Carleton University in Ottawa. In 1994, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and in the 2001 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was awarded a Knighthood.

Leveraging IMS and 4G through multimedia fixed to mobile convergence

By combining 4G and multimedia service providers can combine fixed and mobile services for residential and enterprise consumers. Fixed-mobile convergence was considered initially for voice services, new revenues are realized through multimedia convergence. IMS provides the infrastructure for location-based services, video delivery and integrated enterprise services, while 4G offers the broadband and quality of service demanded by advanced mobile applications.
