Veteran Texas Trial Lawyer William Moye Announces New Law Firm
Accomplished Houston trial attorney William R. Moye announced today he is leaving Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, LLP to launch a new firm.
Moye Law Firm, which will be based in Houston, will focus primarily on plaintiffs personal injury cases.
The change in firms and practice areas represents a significant departure for Mr. Moye, who is considered one of the country's leading civil defense lawyers.
"I love trying cases and have always been passionate about being able to advocate for my clients. For 20 years, my work at Thompson Coe has allowed me to do just that, and I could not be more grateful," said Mr. Moye. "But now I'm ready to get towork for plaintiffs dealing with catastrophic personal injury cases."
"Those who have had the privilege to work with Will know how much of an impact he has had on our firm," said Shawn Phelan, chair of the Thompson Coe management committee. "We are grateful for the time and dedication he has devoted to Thompson Coe, and we are all better for having had the opportunity to work beside him."
Mr. Moye has focused his practice for more than two decades on defending complex casualty claims in various sectors, including energy, marine, transportation and product liability. He is known for his ability to navigate and solve issues that often arise during high-stakes litigation and is often hired to "parachute" into existing cases in an effort to reach the best possible outcome.
He has represented some of the world's largest companies, including Ford Motor Co., Pep Boys Inc., Michelin North American Tire, Chevron, Chevron Phillips Petroleum Co., Shell, Anadarko and Valero.
Mr. Moye's expertise has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and Texas Super Lawyers. He is also a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow.
Mr. Moye will continue at Thompson Coe through February 29. Moye Law Firm officially opens its doors March 1.
"My goal initially will be to partner with local plaintiffs teams to lend my experience and expertise on existing cases," said Mr. Moye. "I am very happy for this exciting new chapter and look forward to making my mark on the other side of the bar."
