Sunflower Bank, N.A. Donates $125,083 to Schools and Students through the ABC Program for Education


Sunflower Bank, N.A. has donated a total of $101,703 to 139 K-12 schools and school systems that participated in its ABC Program for Education's 2022-2023 school year campaign. In addition, the ABC Program's "Pay for As" drawings throughout 2023 resulted in $23,380 in payments directly to students as a reward for academic achievements. Funds were distributed by local branches throughout October to participating schools and winning students. Since 2001, the ABC Program has donated over $1.7 million to support education in Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 communities.

"Sunflower Bank remains steadfast in our support of our communities. Helping fund K-12 education has always been a cornerstone of those efforts. We are proud of the $1.7 million we have contributed in direct funding to schools and students since 2001 through our ABC Program. This program exemplifies our commitment to fostering academic success in our youth through community partnerships," said Mollie Carter, Sunflower Bank's Executive Chairman.

Sunflower Bank, N.A.'s 2023-2024 school year campaign is already underway with the following opportunities to support education throughout the Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 footprint:

  • Customer Debit Card Transactions: Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 customers can designate an ABC-Program registered school for support with each eligible debit card purchase during the campaign, with a standard school donation of $0.02 per transaction.1
  • New Account Openings: The bank will donate $5 for new Elevation Checking accounts opened with a qualifying school code during the campaign period. The current campaign is running between September 1, 2023, and August 31, 2024.2
  • "Pay for A's" Drawings: Twice a year, K-12 students can bring their most recent report ard to any bank branch for a chance to win $10 for every A, up to a total of $100 per student. Five winners are drawn per branch at the end of the contest. These drawings are open to the public and no purchase is required for entry. Current drawing period ends on December 31, 2023.3
  • Added Benefit: If a winning student attends a participating ABC Program school, that school will receive a matching donation from the bank.4
