University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies Research and Scholarship Enterprise is pleased to announce the launch of its newly designed Research Hub, featuring scholarly work from a community of researchers. The new hub exemplifies the University's commitment to the highest standards of academic excellence and research innovation. As part of the broader learning culture, the Research Hub provides doctoral student support resources and showcases scholarly articles and research news focused on providing value-driven, real-world solutions.

"The University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies Research and Scholarship Enterprise is dedicated to producing work that is timely, robust and impactful," shares Hinrich Eylers, Ph.D., P.E., vice provost, College of Doctoral Studies. "The new hub allows us to elevate the work we're already doing and provides a platform to highlight the importance of scholarly research and discourse. The hope is that the new platform will foster even more engagement with our research community and deliver a greater impact as we continue to lead scholarly inquiry at the University."

The mission of the Research Centers at the College of Doctoral Studies is to lead, integrate, and deliver multidisciplinary research and development solutions in the core areas of leadership, workplace diversity, and educational technology. Each research center has unique focus areas and targets several key areas of study.

  • Center for Leadership Studies and Organizational Research (CLSOR): The CLSOR provides a lens through which leadership and organization may be examined from all vantage points, utilizing the conduits of research and reporting through conferences, publications and innovative projects. Areas of research include organizational strategy, industrial organizational research, and transformative learning. Dr. Rodney Luster serves as the research chair for CLSOR.
  • Center for Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Research (CWDIR): The CWDIR serves as the research home for faculty, students and alumni who have an expressed interest or have an existing research agenda related to the topics of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). Supporting the growth of existing and developing research and scholarship agendas, CWDIR focuses on numerous DEIB-relaed topics within our workforce. The CWDIR Research Chair is Dr. Kimberly M. Underwood.
  • Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR): The CEITR serves as the departmental home for faculty and students who have an expressed interest or research agenda associated with technology-based tools, learning theories or instructional strategies. Areas of research include teaching and learning, online and in-person education, educational polices, practices and theories. Mansureh Kebritchi, Ph.D., serves as the research chair for CEITR.
  • University of Phoenix Career Institute: Home to the Career Optimism Index® study, the Career Institute was created to help address systemic barriers to career advancement through research-based solutions and impactful partnerships. University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies researchers and faculty produce white papers and articles with insights from The Career Optimism Index® each year.

"Our University of Phoenix research centers provide a rigorous scholarly environment to better understand workplace challenges and trends across industries," states Rodney Luster, Ph.D., chair for the CLSOR. "We have a wide range of scholars working to understand workplace issues such as talent mobility and the changing labor market, and to develop solutions in the key areas of leadership, diversity and inclusion, education, and technology. The research produced is timely and relevant to anyone interested in understanding the changing dynamics of our workforce and the impacts to both job seekers and employers."

The newly launched hub is also home to the Phoenix Scholar™ academic research publication of University of Phoenix's College of Doctoral Studies. The periodical, launched in 2017, is published digitally and showcases the commitment of the University faculty to fostering research through evidence-based practice. The research journal has been assigned an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) by the U.S. ISSN Center at the Library of Congress. The assignment for Phoenix Scholar™ is online format ISSN 2771-6503 and print format ISSN 2771-6422. As long-time leaders in online education, University of Phoenix utilizes research to develop solutions in the core areas of leadership, workplace diversity, and instructional technology to enhance student outcomes, improve communities and to help students, faculty and alumni grow in their career aspirations.

Each fall the College of Doctoral Studies hosts online the Knowledge Without Boundaries Research Summit, which is open to the public and serves as a forum for research while exploring the innovative possibilities for advancing the value prospects of industry practice, scholar-practitioner engagement, and evolving research around pivotal issues. The event registration, agenda, features and speakers will all be featured on the new research hub.
