Streaming Video Alliance Hosts Europe 2021 STREAMup Focused on Streaming Video Protocols


The Streaming Video Alliance (the Alliance), a global technical association developing solutions to address critical technical challenges in delivering a high-quality video experience at scale, is hosting a virtual Europe STREAMup tomorrow, November 23, 2021, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm GMT. The event is specifically scheduled to accommodate the streaming community in Europe, however it is open to all who would like to participate. The meetup is free of charge, thanks to member company sponsor ServiceNow.

"We've seen strong attendance at our 2021 STREAMup events and look forward to exploring the different aspects of streaming video protocols in our final STREAMup of the year," said Jason Thibeault, Executive Director at the Streaming Video Alliance. "Having the right protocols in place makes a huge difference in latency and thus, the quality of experience for viewers. Alliance Launches New Diversity Site

As part of the Alliance's Diversity Initiative, it recently launched a new diversity site. The Streaming Video Alliance is strongly in support of increasing the opportunities for historically underrepresented groups within the streaming industry. "Bringing more voices and perspectives to the Alliance is of utmost importance," aid Thibeault. "We believe it is our responsibility to elevate voices of underrepresented groups in the streaming video industry and contribute to the creation of an ecosystem that welcomes and celebrates diversity."



Fifty percent of the Alliance's 2021 Grant Members represented leadership with diverse backgrounds, and the Alliance is committed to achieving the same with the 2022 Grant Program. Also this year, the first woman joined the Alliance's Board of Directors, Alicia Pritchett, Strategic Account Executive, Media & Entertainment of Fastly.

Alliance to Host Webinar "Caching Best Practices: From Origin to Home Storage"

The Alliance will wrap up its 2021 webinar series next month. Focused on open caching, the webinar will feature speakers Damien Lucas of ATEME, Dan Newman of Viasat, Josh Pressnell of Penthera, and Rob Roskin of Lumen. The event takes place December 14, 2021 at 10am PT.
