True Health New Mexico Informs Individuals of Data Security Incident and Offers Support

Today, True Health of New Mexico ("THNM") announced that it identified and addressed a data security incident and THNM sent notices to impacted parties as required.

On October 5, 2021, THNM experienced a data security incident. Upon learning of the incident, we promptly took steps to secure and contain the impacted THNM systems and supplemented our internal response teams with leading cyber security defense firms and other outside experts. These steps included taking preventative measures, including shutting down certain systems where necessary, as well as taking steps to supplement existing security monitoring, scanning and protective measures. THNM has restored its principal operations with no material day-to-day impact to its operations.

Through the investigation it was discovered that the incident was caused by an unauthorized third party who gained access to THNM's IT system in early October 2021. Security professionals determined that impacted data may have included a person's name, date of birth, age, home address, email address, insurance information, medical information, social security number, health account member ID, provider information, dates of service, and provider identification number and dates of service. At this time, we have no evidence that any personal information has been misused.

THNM takes the security of personal information very seriously. We are working with law enforcement officials on their ongoing criminal investigation of this matter and have notified appropriate governmental authorities.

THNM is mailing letters directly to those individuals whose information may have been involved in this incident and is offering those individuals credit monitoring and identify theft protection at no cost. A special call center has been established by THNM to address questions about this incident and can be reached at 1 (833) 525-2719, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time (excluding U.S. holidays). Information is also available on our website at www.truehealthnewmexico.com.

THNM is committed to protecting information in our care, and we encourage potentially impacted individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud, to review account statements and explanation of benefits forms, and to monitor their credit reports and explanation of benefits forms for suspicious activity. If you review your credit reports or account statement and do find suspicious activity, we recommend that you contact the call center listed above and also call your local police or sheriff's office or state Attorney General and file a report of identity theft.
