HUAWEI CLOUD Expands Product Portfolio in Latin America, Offering 10+ New Services in Distributed Cloud, Cloud Native, and Big Data

MEXICO CITY, Sept. 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- From August 30 to September 3, HUAWEI CLOUD will be announcing the launch of a number of new services in Latin America, covering distributed cloud, cloud native, big data, AI, and video services. These announcements are part of the event the cloud service provider has kicked off to celebrate their two-year anniversary in Latin America.

The cloud services that are about to be announced include the following: Intelligent EdgeCloud (IEC), Intelligent EdgeFabric (IEF), KYON (Keep Your Own Network), FunctionGraph 2.0, Multi-Cloud Container Platform (MCP), Application Service Mesh (ASM), Container Guard Service (CGS), GaussDB database services, ModelArts Pro (enterprise AI development platform), CloudRTC (cloud-based real-time video service), plus a number of other live and VOD services.

These services, along with others that HUAWEI CLOUD already provides in Latin America, aim at helping customers on the continent simplify connections, deployment, data analysis, AI adoption, and service rollout; and accelerate digital transformation.

The following is a brief introduction to some of these services.

  • Intelligent EdgeCloud (IEC) is an edge cloud solution that provides low-latency coverage for hotspot areas. It supports traffic-intensive and latency-sensitive applications, such as interactive live streaming, online education, and video, accelerating innovation on the edge.

  • Intelligent EdgeFabric (IEF) allows intelligent applications, such as AI, IoT, and intelligent data processing, to be deployed at the edge. Leveraging edge-cloud synergy, IEF unifies the management of hundreds of thousands of edge sites and millions of applications, accelerating intelligent upgrade across industries.

  • Keep Your Own Network (KYON) is an enterprise cloud network solution that allows enterprises to easily and quickly move data and workloads to the cloud while keeping their existing network. KYON also provides more secure and convenient cloud service support for enterprises to quickly iterate and roll out services from their own premises.

  • Multi-Cloud Container Platform (MCP), Application Service Mesh (ASM), and Container Guard Service (CGS) are three new services that HUAWEI CLOUD will be launching in Latin America to help customers upgrade their cloud-native infrastructure. MCP enables cross-cloud deployment of containerized applications without changes to their existing application architecture; ASMprovides zero-code service governance, and CGS provides container lifecycle security, so customers in the Internet, finance, manufacturing, transportation, and other sectors can trust containers to deploy cloud-native applications.

  • HUAWEI CLOUD FunctionGraph is a serverless computing and orchestration service that provides a one-stop user portal for you to develop, manage, and release functions, view logs, and monitor metrics. You can take advantage of six common programming runtimes or create your own custom runtimes on FunctionGraph. The service supports 10+ types of function triggers and a range of logging and monitoring features. Through continuous iteration, FunctionGraph 2.0 provides the following features:

-        Functions with built-in states, enabling fast data access while the functions are running.
-        Layered scheduling policies, millisecond-level auto scaling to meet peak demand, and 100-millisecond-level function cold starts.
-        High-performance communication between functions via a high-speed bus.
-        Full lifecycle management for functions, streamlined DevOps processes (including CloudIDE, continuous integration, and continuous delivery), and a one-stop function development platform for cloud-native development and debugging.

  • ModelArts Pro is a professional development suite designed for enterprise-grade AI applications. It aims to help enterprises develop AI more efficiently. With ModelArts Pro, industry developers can access a range of easy-to-use industry AI application suites. These suites incorporate a vast number of excellent best practices and knowledge from algorithm and industry experts. In other words, ModelArts Pro is an AI workshop for industry developers. In this workshop, developers can easily develop AI applications using the resources we provide. ModelArts Pro includes the OCR suite, NLP suite, and AI+RPA suite, which many organizations have used to develop their own AI applications.

  • GaussDB(for openGauss) is an enterprise-grade, cloud-native, distributed database service. It can process high-concurrency transactions, complex queries, and hybrid transactional/analytical processing (HTAP) workloads. With innovative technologies and a fully parallel architecture, GaussDB(for openGauss) delivers industry-leading performance and flexible scalability with support for more than 1,000 nodes for a single instance.

To ensure high availability, GaussDB(for openGauss) allows customer to deploy DB instances across different AZs within a region, ensuring zero data loss. In the case of a single failure in an AZ, a recovery time objective (RTO) of less than 10 seconds can be achieved. Cross-region DR is also supported. GaussDB(for openGauss) ensures end-to-end encryption for data transmission, computing, and storage, an industry-leading standard.

  • CloudRTC, accompanied by a number of other audio and video services covering live streaming, VOD, and media processing, delivers a range of multimedia service capabilities that integrate live TV, conferencing, and interactive functions to customers. These services can meet the needs of various industries, such as education, office, entertainment, healthcare, and finance. CloudRTC guarantees smooth video experience, such as smooth video playback, high definition, and ultra-low latency, even when the network quality is less than ideal. It also features a unified architecture, simplified access enabled with merely four lines of code, and 2,500+ nodes worldwide, so that global users can access content from the nearest node over any carrier network. CloudRTC supports 4k video and hundreds of millions of concurrent users. With edge-based codec and AI-assisted bitrate control, the video bitrate can reduce by 30% while delivering the same user experience.

HUAWEI CLOUD is steadily increasing investment in Latin America. Over the past year, it launched a second region in Mexico and two new AZs (availability zones) in Brazil and Chile. To date, HUAWEI CLOUD and partners have deployed 45 AZs in 23 regions around the world. In Latin America, HUAWEI CLOUD operates three core regions in Chile, Brazil, and Mexico, and two country-level regions in Argentina and Peru, with eight AZs in total. HUAWEI CLOUD is committed to its goal of delivering a reliable, efficient, and low-latency cloud service experience for customers across the region.
