Compassion Prison Project Founder and Executive Director Fritzi Horstman Featured on Impact Podcast

Fritzi Horstman, award-winning filmmaker and the Founder & Executive Director of the Compassion Prison Project, an organization dedicated to bringing compassion, childhood trauma awareness and creative inspiration to all men and women living behind bars, is a featured guest this week on the Impact Podcast with John Shegerian. The show is hosted by Shegerian, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of ERI, the nation's leading fully integrated IT and electronics asset disposition provider and cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company.

Horstman produced HBO's "The Defiant Ones," which was nominated for five Emmy Awards. She has also served as a co-producer on numerous features and documentaries for Paramount Network Television, Universal Television, VH1, UPN, Lifetime, Showtime, FX Networks, the CW and CBS including the acclaimed "The Day Reagan was Shot." On Impact, Horstman discussed the new film she directed, "Step Inside the Circle," after working with 30 incarcerated men living at Kern Valley State Prison for over a year and learning about the extent of their childhood trauma. Horstman also shared her belief that it is imperative that society addresses chronic mental health issues in prison with compassion, common sense and a sense of urgency.

"Speaking with John Shegerian on the Impact Podcast was like connecting with an old friend - we picked up where we left off - and yet this is the first time I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with John," said Horstman. "John seems to know about everything and is connected to, what seems like, the entire planet. ext time we speak, we will 'pick up from where we left off' and I'm sure it will be as magical as this conversation."

"It was a great honor to have Fritzi as our guest on the Impact Podcast to discuss her critically important work," said Shegerian. "Her incredible film, 'Step Inside the Circle' sheds powerful and eye-opening new light on our society and should be seen by everyone. Our goal from the beginning with Impact has been to spotlight people and organizations that are making the world a better place and Fritzi is most certainly doing that with her impactful work at Compassion Prison Project."
