Cotton & Company Announces Changes to Its Partnership, as Well as Its Structure to Better Align Its Practice Units With Its Service Offerings

Cotton & Company:

Steve Koons Elected as Managing Partner

Steve Koons was elected Managing Partner, succeeding Matthew Johnson who held the position since 2006. Mr. Koons joined Cotton & Company in December 2010 and was elected partner in January 2014. Previously, Steve worked for the U.S. Government Accountability Office and the Office of Inspector General at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. In those positions, he worked on numerous complex audit and evaluation engagements, including those related to the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 and the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.

"Steve's intellect, tenacity, can-do attitude and dedication make him the ideal candidate to succeed Matt Johnson and lead the firm to our next levels of success." - Chairman, David Cotton

Cotton & Company Introduces its Advisory and Assurance Practices

After careful evaluation of how best to serve client needs, Cotton & Company has restructured its legacy Financial and Information Assurance (IA) practices into new Assurance and Advisory practices. The Assurance practice, led by Practice Lead Partner, Loren Schwart, focuses on federal financial statement audits and related performance audits and is comprised of a dedicated team of financial and IA auditors. The Advisory practice, led by Practice Lead Partner, Gary Barton, focuses on consulting engagements and is comprised of a dedicated team of financial and IA consultants. We anticipate achieving substantial completion of the realignment in April 2020.

"These changes were a natural transition as we develop and grow our firm's areas of expertise and practices. This revised structure will enable us to be more responsive to both advisory and assurance clients through collaborative, multi-disciplinary service offerings." - Steve Koons, Managing Partner.

Cotton & Company's Contracts and Grants/Litigation Support practice, led by Practice Lead Partner, Mike Gillespie, continues to provide contract and grant audit services and support, as well as litigation support, expert witness testimony, and contract claims preparation and evaluation services.
