Videotron connects its first customer in Amos!Healthy competition in Abitibi starts now MONTRÉAL, March 9, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - There was excitement in the air on Friday as Videotron carried out its first wireline installation in Abitibi. As of now, Amos residents can enjoy Videotron residential cable telephone service via the Cable Amos network. Videotron's arrival in the region marks the beginning of healthy telecom competition in Abitibi. Videotron's first customer is none other than Sylvie Dufresne, the daughter of Télédistribution Amos Inc. founder Édouard Dufresne: "As we said in December, we are proud to pass the torch to Videotron because we are confident that it is the company best positioned to create healthy competition in the region," she says. "It is only natural for us to be Videotron's very first customers in Abitibi." This first installation begins the roll-out of Videotron's service offerings in the region. For now, Québec's flagship telecom is offering Amos residents one service: residential pone. In the coming months, the full line of Videotron services will be made available, including Helix, the brand new entertainment and connected lifestyle management platform. "For too long, Abitibians have suffered from the lack of competition – particularly in residential telephone service, where Bell was the only option," says Jean-François Pruneau, President and CEO of Videotron. "Healthy telecommunications competition in Abitibi begins now and the winners will be local residents and businesses." In December 2019, Videotron signed an agreement to acquire Télédistribution Amos Inc. and its network. The acquisition is expected to close in the spring of 2020. About Videotron SOURCE Videotron |
