KBRA Releases CREFC Day 1 Recap

Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) releases its CREFC Day 1 Recap as the annual conference in Miami kicked off its 21st year with approximately 1,890 registered attendees, a record turnout.

Chuck Lee, Chair of CREFC's Executive Committee, shared in his opening remarks that 2020 marks not just a new year, but also new decade in which we find ourselves in a period of reflection and transition. The retail and office sectors are undergoing significant changes, while the LIBOR transition is approaching. However, he shared that the industry has always been confronted with problems and has found solutions. CREFC was created to increase liquidity and transparency in the commercial real estate debt markets and benefits from the collaboration of the members of CREFC to ensure the highest probability of success owing to its forward-looking perspectives.

In the 2020 Vision: The Market Now and Ahead forum, a panel of lenders and investors which included debt funds, insurance companies, banks, and agencies, acknowledged 2019 as a record year for originations before openings discussions on the following topics:

  • The impact of leverage on originations.
  • What type of capital is the best source.
  • What asset types are currently favored.
  • The drivers of competition.
  • The outlook for 2020.
