BTIG Expands Software Equity Research Division with Gray Powell, CFA, Security Software Analyst, and Matthew VanVliet, CFA, Application Software Analyst


BTIG announced today that Gray Powell, CFA, and Matthew VanVliet, CFA, have joined the firm's Research and Strategy division to launch coverage across the security and application software sectors. Mr. Powell and Mr. VanVliet will both report to David Lenchus, Director of Research at BTIG.

Mr. Powell joins BTIG as a Director in New York, focused on the security software sector. He has 20 years of experience as a sell-side research analyst and has covered multiple verticals within technology and telecom services. Prior to BTIG, Mr. Powell was a Director and Senior Analyst on Deutsche Bank's Top Five Institutional Investor-ranked software team responsible for leading the research effort on small and mid-cap security and infrastructure software stocks. Previously, he spent seventeen years at Wells Fargo (News - Alert) in a similar role, where he focused on security and infrastructure software as well as data centers, wireless towers and telecom services. He earned a BS in mathematical economics from Wake Forest University.

Mr. VanVliet joins BTIG as a Vice President in Chicago, focused on the application software sector. Prior to BTIG, he was an Associate Vice President within Equity Research at Stifel, where he covered the application and communications software sectors. Mr. VanVliet earned a BS in finance and a BS in business administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating with honors.
