The Mary Kay Foundation? Donates $25,000 to Hope's Door New Beginning Center

The Mary Kay Foundation?, a decades-long leader in the mission to end domestic violence, recently donated $25,000 to Hope's Door New Beginning Center, an organization dedicated to offering intervention and prevention services to individuals and families affected by intimate partner and family violence. The organization also provides education programs that enhance the community's capacity to respond to victims.

"Through the Mary Kay Foundation?, Mary Kay is committed to ending domestic violence," said Melinda Foster Sellers, Chief People Officer with Mary Kay. "It's personal for us as a company. We strive to educate the public on this epidemic and partner with advocates like Hope's Door to provide helpful tools and resources to the public."

Last year, Hope's Door New Beginning Center's shelters housed 265 women and children-but their locations are in need of major renovations. With Mary Kay's help, Hope's Door aims to complete the renovations and continue to provide shelter services, including a 24-hour hotline answered in English and Spanish, emergency housing for up to 90 days, counseling, case management, safety planning, and essentials of daily living.

"We are humbled and grateful for The Mary Kay Foundation's continued support," said Beth Robinson, Director of Development with Hope's Door New Beginning Center. "According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. With Mary Kay's help, and the help of all of our donors, we'll be able to better serve the North Texas community by offering critical intervention and prevention services."

Over the course of more than two decades, The Mary Kay Foundation? has awarded more than $78 million to women's shelters and domestic violence service providers, as well as cancer research programs and related causes throughout the United States.
