Semtech Loses To Spark Connected on Preliminary Injunction MotionA Federal Court has ruled in favor of Spark Connected, a Texas based leading global technology developer of advanced Wireless Power solutions and denied Semtech Corporation's (News - Alert) motion for preliminary injunction. The Court determined, "the Trade Secrets were inactionably vague and overbroad. . . It is improper to require either the Court or [Spark Connected] to speculate about the meaning of the Trade Secrets at the heart of Semtech's Motion for Preliminary Injunction." Further, the Court concluded that Semtech employees in the wireless power group were terminated or resigned throughout 2017 and that, "Semtech was no longer interested in the wireless power market or had shifted the focus of its business away from that segment." In her ruling, made on September 10, 2019, Judge Kimberly C. Priest Johnson of the United States Court for the Eastern District of Texas wrote: "Semtech has not satisfied the heavy burden of demonstrating it faces a substantial threat of irreparable harm. Accordingly, Semtech's Motion for Preliminary Injunction (Dkt. 14) is DENIED." Ken Moore, CEO of Spark Connected, said, "We are pleased that the Court agreed with our position on this motion.
