Dominion Camera Celebrates 50 Years Servicing Washington, DC

Dominion Camera in the City of Falls Church, Virginia has reached a milestone that is rarely reached in retail brick and mortar stores today. This unique store is celebrating 50 years of service to the Washington, DC photographic community. As a celebration for being the oldest camera store in the Washington, DC metro area and as a thank you to all of their great customers, Dominion Camera will be having a sale on July 20, 2019. Representatives from Nikon, Canon (News - Alert), Panasonic, Olympus, and Sony, and more will be onsite to commemorate this occasion.

History:

The camera store, Clarendon Photo Studio and Camera was founded in 1944 and was origially located at 2925 Wilson Blvd in Arlington, VA. Tony Socarras bought the store from the original owner and renamed it Dominion Camera on March 24, 1969. In July of 1971 Dominion camera moved to its current location at 112 West Broad Street in the City of Falls Church, replacing Porter Photography and Studio in the same location.

In October 2014 at the age of 85, Tony retired, and Mohsen Jalali and Gary Henry purchased Dominion Camera, combining it with the 12,000 square foot mega store Ace Photo located in Ashburn, Virginia making it the largest, oldest and best camera store team in the Washington, DC metro area.

The two stores today sell cameras and accessories for all segments of the photography and the video business, for the professional and amateur.

Keeping with their roots, both stores focus on the old-time values of customer service and support by providing their clients the feel of an "old time camera store." In an era where online sales are becoming more prevalent, the staff of Dominion Camera and Ace Photo remains committed to providing the individualized service that their customers deserve.

Dominion Camera and Ace Photo still have a complete film and processing lab onsite that can develop film, scan and print photographs and banners up to 64" wide and can print on metal, wood and other products.

Stop by the store and say hello to our staff of photographers and see how Dominion Camera and Ace Photo can help you capture your memories.
