Thomas Honors Q2 Award Program Winners For Industry Innovators


Thomas, the leader in product sourcing, supplier selection and marketing solutions for industry, awarded the second quarter winners of its Thomas For Industry Awards: NextGen For Industry and Champion For Industry. The program celebrates the professional accomplishments of millennials and individuals of all ages that are propelling the industrial and manufacturing sectors forward.

Q2 NextGen (News - Alert) For Industry winners include:

Rachel Pacheco
Genomatica Senior Manufacturing Manager Rachel Pacheco has successfully brought two manufacturing campaigns to scale. She led a team of fermentation and process engineers from California to a site in rural Italy to produce a chemical called butylene glycol using sustainable methods. The campaign produced 600 tons of the chemical in just five weeks, making it the world's first commercialization of bio-based butylene glycol. Read more of Pacheco's story here.

Arek Gdowski
As an engineer at Dehumidifier Corporation of America, Gdowski wears many hats. While his main responsibilities include creating 3D models, wiring diagrams and designing components for dehumidifier solutions, Gdowski also performs I.T. duties for his company. He even recently programmed and created a selection software that enables clients to easily access and select components for their dehumidifier soluions. Read more of Gdowski's story here.



Sara Cavanaugh
In her role as a distribution planner at J. Crew, Cavanaugh recently developed an outbound inventory forecasting tool to help members of the supply chain team break down product shipments into weekly and category-specific schedules. The new program enhanced distribution center process efficiencies and effectiveness by streamlining cross-functional communication. Read more of Cavanaugh's story here.

Scott Lindblad
As the CEO of Automated Assembly, Lindblad is always pushing his engineers to achieve greater success. Over the course of his career, Lindblad has seen the market develop at an incredibly rapid pace and has leveraged his company's ability to grow with these changing needs. The inventor of SMT-Flex, a technology utilized in many applications including the first Motorola (News - Alert) phone and ABS brake systems. Lindblad is currently developing Wire Write, a new technology designed for use in additive manufacturing processes to design medical and automotive components. Read more of Lindblad's story here.

Tracy Tenpenny
Tenpenny serves as vice president of sales at Tailored Label Products (TLP). During his 13 years at the company, Tenpenny has been able to transform the company from a $6.5 million business to a $24 million business. He has had the opportunity to work with large companies such as Tesla, providing label solutions for the aerospace, hydraulic power and light industries. Under his direction, TLP has been voted a Best Place to Work company. In the next 5 years, Tracy hopes to turn TLP into a $33 million company. By prioritizing his employees and constantly giving validation to his team, Tenpenny leads by putting his people first and making sure they have the tools they need to be successful. Jim Schweich
Schweich serves as the chief executive perfectionist at Plateco, Inc. As the second-generation leader of the business, he is recognized for uniquely innovating the process of zinc plating, a relatively unglamorous industry not typically associated with new, sophisticated technologies and systems. Schweich continuously inspires his 74 employees, and with increased efficiency and an optimized plant floor layout, he was able to triple his 45-years-strong company's capacity without increasing the size of his factory or adding new equipment.
