Alation Named One of Inc. Magazine's Best Workplaces 2019

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 16, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alation, Inc., the data catalog company, today announced it has been named one of Inc. magazine’s Best Workplaces for 2019, in the fourth annual ranking of the fast-growing private company sector.

Hitting newsstands on May 28 in Inc.’s June 2019 issue, and as part of a prominent Inc.com feature, the list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private American companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement and stellar benefits. Collecting data on nearly 2,000 submissions, Inc. singled out 346 finalists.

“At Alation, we seek to foster a data culture, both among our customers and internally with a set of values built on humility, curiosity, and measuring success through customer impact," said Satyen Sangani, CEO, Alation. "People, operating in the right culture, make data come alive. This recognition is a testament to our dedication to developing a world-class data culture within Alation."

Each company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Omaha’s Quantum Workplace, on topics including trust, management effectiveness, perks and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed and audited the data, then ranked all the employers using a composite score of survey results. This year, 74.2% of surveyed employees were engaged by their work — besting last year’s 72.1%. The strongest engagement scores came from companies that prioritize the most human elements of work. These companies are leading the way in employee recognition, performance management and diversity.

"With today's tight labor market, building a great corporate culture is more important than ever,” says Inc. magazine Editor-in-Chief James Ledbetter. “The companies on Inc.'s Best Workplaces list are setting an example that the whole country can learn from."

The recognition follows Alation being named to the 2019 Bay Area Best Places To Work, an awards program presented by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal. The company has recently celebrated a number of milestones showcasing its growth, including the appointment of its first Chief Data Officer Aaron Kalb, significant Q4 2018 customer adoption, four years of triple-digit revenue growth and the completion of its $50M Series C funding round to further its leadership in the Machine Learning Data Catalog market.
