NEW YORK, April 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- President Trump launched his American AI Initiative which directs Federal agencies to prioritize investments in research and development of artificial intelligence. The Initiative focuses federal government resources toward developing AI technology and ensuring that the next great AI inventions are made in the U.S.

Overall, the announcement mentioned five major objectives:

  • Have federal agencies increase funding for AI R&D
  • Make federal data and computing power more available for AI purposes
  • Set standards for safe and trustworthy AI
  • Train an AI workforce
  • Engage with international allies—but protect the tech from foreign adversaries

The Process Automation for Government team has developed a report discussing the major objectives further. You can find the report here.
